FLS: The Proper Use of Forensic Light Sources.
This class will explain the proper use of a Forensic Light Source.  The theory of light, the spectrum, fuming, dye staining and fluorescent powders will be discussed.  You will have a chance to learn first hand the proper way to use your light source to find several different types of evidence. Which color filter to use to detect evidence and the proper camera filter to photograph your findings. Safety and proper care are covered to protect your investment.  You are invited to bring your own FLS.  If you do not have a light source, it is an opportunity to see all the different types of evidence you could be missing.  The course is one day, includes lunch, and is free of charge.

AFIS: How a Local AFIS will Solve Crime.
This class will discuss how a local AFIS (Automated Fingerprint Identification System) can assist you in closing cases, and work with your existing State system.  The differences between Live Scan and AFIS, and how they work together are defined.  There are several misconceptions related to local AFIS databases.  In the class, these misconceptions are identified, defined and corrected.  We encourage attendees to bring a matched set of their own and stay after lunch to run them in an AFIS to see the effectiveness of the system as a time saving tool.  The class is structured as a half day discussion and lunch is included.

Digital and Optical Enhancement: Improving your Results.
This class provides user tips for fingerprint enhancement.  The use of a forensic light source, digital cameras and several different types of filters, will allow the user to reduce fluorescing backgrounds and other optical enhancements.  For further enhancements, the use of software is utilized to remove overlapping prints, repeating backgrounds, and other common obstacles found when processing fingerprint evidence.  The class is one day, includes lunch, and is free of charge.
